Brazilian Portuguese includes nasal vowel sounds that may be new to you. Spellings such as ã and õ can give you something to listen for. Play available word audio, repeat it slowly, and keep the sound connected to the complete word and its meaning.
Expressions such as você and a gente are useful starting points for noticing Brazilian usage. Grammar Center explains how these forms work with verbs. Compare the examples as you learn, remembering that the wording you hear can also vary across regions and situations in Brazil.
A translation alone may not explain when to use ser, estar, or ficar. Look at the context and examples in Grammar Center, then check an unfamiliar word in the Dictionary. Phrasebook expressions offer another way to see a verb working as part of a complete thought.
