What Loquus is
Loquus is a language learning app for iOS. Lessons, progress, streaks, and preferences work entirely on your device. Loquus uses an Apple managed CloudKit container solely for issue reports that you choose to submit; it is not used for accounts, analytics, advertising, or learning profiles.
Information we collect
We do not collect information through ordinary use of the app, apart from the crash reports in the Android beta described below. Specifically:
- No Loquus account. Loquus does not ask for your name or email address and does not create its own login. Sending an optional issue report requires iCloud, as explained below.
- No analytics or tracking in the app. The Loquus app does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and does not share data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- No ads. Loquus shows no advertising and embeds no ad networks. If you installed Loquus after tapping an ad we ran, your device may send Apple's anonymous SKAdNetwork conversion signal, described below.
Voluntary issue reports
When you tap the shield button, Loquus automatically attempts to capture the current app screen before opening the report form. If capture succeeds, the screenshot is automatically attached when you tap Send report. The form has no separate option to remove that attachment. Nothing is sent through this flow before you tap Send report. Reports are sent to our CloudKit support inbox, managed by Apple.
The report includes your description and issue category, plus technical details: app version and build, device model, screen size and scale, installed memory, whether Low Power Mode is on, the device’s thermal state, operating system version, selected course, learning mode, and screen or exercise context. The screenshot can include lesson text, answers, or other information visible on that screen. Loquus does not separately attach your full learning profile, microphone recordings, or payment records.
We use these reports only to investigate and resolve the issue. The report database is configured so learners can create their own report but cannot read anyone else's. CloudKit automatically associates the report with an app specific creator identifier for the signed in iCloud account; we do not use that identifier to create a Loquus account or learning profile. Reports are reviewed and deleted when no longer needed, and are not used for advertising, analytics, or tracking. Avoid including sensitive personal information in the free text description. If iCloud is unavailable, Loquus offers a prefilled support email instead.
In TestFlight, you can also choose the separate TestFlight feedback option. That feedback is sent through Apple's TestFlight flow after you choose to submit it there.
Crash reports in the Android beta
Loquus for Android is in beta testing. While the beta runs, the Android app includes Firebase Crashlytics, a crash reporting service from Google, so that we can find and fix crashes. When the app crashes, Crashlytics sends Google a report containing what went wrong in the code, the app version, technical details about the device at that moment (such as its model, Android version and free memory), and a random identifier for that installation of the app. The report does not contain your name, your email address, or anything about your lessons or progress. We use these reports only to fix the app, and Google deletes them after 90 days. We will remove Crashlytics from the Android app when the beta ends. None of this applies to Loquus on iOS.
What's stored, and where
Your learning progress (which words you know, your streak, your preferences, and similar) is saved in a file on your own device, the same way any other app saves its local settings. It is never transmitted to the CloudKit support inbox. If you delete Loquus from your device, that local data is deleted with it. Loquus does not back this data up to any server of ours.
Microphone and speech recognition
Loquus optionally uses your device’s microphone so you can practice saying words aloud and see whether the speech recognizer heard the expected word. It does not score your accent. This uses Apple’s on device speech recognition. Your voice is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, including to us. You can decline microphone access and still use every other part of the app.
Ad attribution (SKAdNetwork)
If you install Loquus after tapping one of our ads on a network such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, TikTok, Snap, or AppLovin, Apple’s SKAdNetwork framework may send that ad network an anonymous, aggregate conversion value from your device: that the app was installed, and later a coarse value indicating that you finished setting up a course, started a trial, or began a subscription. This signal is designed by Apple to contain no identifiers, no name, no device ID and no learning data, and neither we nor the ad network can connect it to you. It exists so we can tell whether an ad worked at all, and nothing more. If you did not arrive through an ad, no signal is sent.
Purchases and subscriptions
Loquus offers optional subscriptions (“Loquus Plus”) through Apple’s App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. Loquus never sees or stores your payment details, card number, or billing address. What the app receives from Apple is limited to whether your subscription is currently active, which is used to unlock the relevant features in the app and to set the anonymous conversion value described above.
Children's privacy
Loquus is not directed at children under 13. Ordinary app use does not transmit learning data, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through voluntary issue reports. If you believe a child submitted personal information in a report, contact us so we can delete it.
Your rights
Your learning data has no external record for us to give you, correct, or delete. You may request deletion of a voluntary issue report by contacting us with the approximate submission time and issue details. Deleting the app deletes its local learning data. If you have questions about this, or believe this policy doesn't fully answer something you're required to be told under your local law (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted at this same address with a new “Last updated” date. Because the app doesn’t collect contact information, we have no way to notify app users directly, so please check back if you have concerns.

Website and Android beta enrollment
Android beta signup happens through Google Groups and Google Play. This website does not collect or store your email through a signup form. When you join the Loquus Android Beta group, Google processes your Google account information and makes your membership details, including your email address, available to the group owner to manage beta access. The group’s member list is restricted to its owner.
Joining the group makes your account eligible for the closed test; you must then opt in on Google Play. Your membership is used for beta access, not marketing. You can leave the beta on Google Play and leave the group through Google Groups. For Google’s handling of account and service data, see Google’s privacy policy.
Apple TestFlight has its own beta testing data practices, including crash logs, usage information, and feedback shared with developers. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information.
Website enrollment information added September 22, 2026.
Community and article discussions
If you post a comment or reply, we store your chosen display name, message, conversation, and submission time. Names are not verified. Comments are held for moderation before publication. Approved comments are public. Do not include private information.
The discussion service uses a coded abuse identifier to limit repeated submissions. The application does not store the raw network address. Abuse identifiers are cleared after seven days during the next service cleanup. Pending or rejected conversations are removed after thirty days during cleanup. Approved conversations remain until removed.
The service is hosted through OpenAI Sites with Cloudflare storage. Hosting providers also process request information to deliver and protect the service. We do not ask readers to create an account or provide an email address to comment.
To ask us to remove a comment or discuss a private issue, email loquuslanguage@gmail.com. Moderators can remove spam, harassment, private information, or other inappropriate content. Critical feedback is welcome.
Visit counts on this website
To see which pages help learners, this website counts visits with Umami, a privacy focused analytics service. Umami sets no cookies and collects no personal information. For each visit it records the page, the site that linked to it, the browser, operating system and device type, the approximate location (country, region and city), and how long the visit lasted, without identifying you. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, your visit is not counted.
