Arabic sentence basics
Build Modern Standard Arabic identities, demonstratives, articles and questions, then make adjective phrases and predicates agree clearly.
About Arabic sentence basics
Build identities, descriptions and simple questions through connected Modern Standard Arabic lessons on nominal sentences, demonstratives, the article, yes or no questions and adjective agreement.
Identify before describing
Start with the nominal sentence lesson. Identify a book or bag using the correct form of this, then describe a known object with a matching adjective. These present statements do not need a word corresponding to English is. The examples are deliberately short so you can track one grammatical decision at a time.
Separate three useful contrasts
The demonstrative lesson separates near from distant reference and masculine from feminine nouns. The article lesson separates pronunciation from spelling and a noun phrase from a statement. Explain those differences aloud before using the answer choices; the new book and the book is new are different communicative intentions.
Use questions to exchange information
End with hal and interrogative hamza, then compare confirmation questions with what and who. Write a correction that begins with no and gives the right object in a positive clause. Reconstruct the dialogue from its scenario before checking the supplied order. Case endings, complex negation, duals and plurals are later steps, not hidden requirements of the first models.
Continue with the adjective agreement lesson to build a new book, the new book and the book is new as distinct messages. Practice singular gender, definite noun phrases, indefinite predicates and the feminine singular agreement used with nonhuman plurals.
